These different perceptions are doubtful, everyone sees it differently. However, perceiving the picture is an irrefutable truth. Knowing what the image is proves you exist. Some people might not even see the image correctly, but will be able to think about it. This means that, because you can think about the item, you must be real while the object could just be an illusion. As descartes said, "I think therefore, I am." Because you are most likely thinking right now, your thoughts are irrefutable truth.

The big idea of growth mindsets and fixed mindsets is the paradox between them. People with growth mindsets are shown to have put more effort and not give up as easily than people with a fixed mindset. For example, in the article, “The Effort Effect”, by Marina Krakovsky, a test was made on kids to see how they would act when they in the face of a challenging math problem. A paragraph in the article states, “ Through a series of exercises, the experimenters trained half the students to chalk up their errors to insufficient effort, and encouraged them to keep going. Those children learned to persist in the face of failure—and to succeed.” (p. 8) The children who had the growth mindset put effort into solving the math problems, while a fixed mindset only reach to the potential that they think is enough, usually ending up underperforming. Under almost any other circumstance, the person with a growth mindset reaches to their highest potential more often. As explained in the article, “The control group showed no improvement at all, continuing to fall apart quickly and to recover slowly.” The control group was the fixed mindset group the group in which they did not help much at all but when it came to the growth mindset group they encouraged everyone to strive to their potential. This lead for the control group to dramatically show no improvement whatsoever. The mind of a person with a fixed mindset can in fact be changed into a growth mindset but with perseverance and hard work. As the Growth mindset animation video says, “ To have a fixed mindset means to believe in one's basic abilities, intelligence, and talents, are just fixed traits”. This implies that people with a fixed mindset don’t see themselves reaching higher than what they can actually achieve, and that they don’t need to try and pass any personal boundaries. This mindset can in fact, be changed. primarily through rigorous training and the highest of hopes in believing in oneself. Overall, the Big Idea is that the growth mindset is much better to have than the fixed mindset. We chose to do a slide presentation for our symbol. We used pictures in our slides to represent each mindset. For example, in the slide about growth mindset, there is a picture about growth mindset and how the brain is divided. Even the title slide has a picture to show off what we are going to talk about. What does this mean to you? (5-8 Sentences) I personally think that this statement is showing a state of living. As non-living organisms cant think for themselves. It shows a sign of life. Showing that you have a mind of your own. It could also mean that because you think, you live as your not empty minded. And because you actually stop and think about what your doing, the thing you're doing isn't pointless. |
